Automatic driving lessons in Norwich
Two pedals, no clutch and no gear changes, so all your attention goes on the road. One-to-one lessons across Norwich and Norfolk, with pick-up from home, school, college or work.
Is an automatic right for you?
Pass in an automatic and your licence covers automatic cars, including electric and hybrid cars, which are all automatic. A manual pass covers both.
Learners often choose automatic when the car they will drive after passing is automatic anyway, when clutch control has held them back before, or when they simply want to concentrate on reading the road. Not sure? Tell us when you get in touch and we’ll talk it through honestly. We teach both, at the same price.
What your lessons cover
Everything the driving test asks for, on the roads you will actually drive:
- Moving off, stopping and smooth speed control without a clutch
- Using creep and the brake for queues, parking and slow manoeuvres
- Junctions, roundabouts and the Norwich ring road
- Dual carriageways such as the A47, and the roads around the Norwich (Peachman Way) test centre
- Country lanes, parking and the test manoeuvres
- Independent driving with a sat nav or road signs, as in the test
How many automatic lessons will you need?
There is no set number, and anyone who quotes one before seeing you drive is guessing. With no clutch or gears to learn, many people need fewer hours in an automatic than in a manual, but it still depends on how often you drive, any private practice and how confident you feel.
After your first lesson we give you an honest estimate, and we keep it up to date as you improve.

What our learners say
Our instructors have decades of teaching experience between them. Here’s what some of our recent reviews say.
“Passed my test today in Norwich. Shout out to my amazing instructor Adnan. Thank you for being so kind and patient whilst also pushing me. Clear instructions and feedback and very good at breaking down things which I found challenging whilst at the same time pointing out my successes. Thanks once again!”
“I would highly recommend Adnan as he was extremely calm, patient, and made me feel very comfortable driving. This built my confidence massively and ensured I felt prepared going into my driving test.”
“I was a little nervous about driving… until I met my instructor, Adnan. Adnan made driving feel like something to enjoy, and taught me impeccably well. His teaching was clear, concise and made learning an enjoyable experience for me, and above all Adnan was an extremely kind person who I am grateful to have been taught by.”
“Absolutely incredible from start to finish! I learnt in Norwich with Adnan and he was incredible! So so helpful and taught me everything I needed to know to get a first time pass! I had my week intensive then 2 lessons before I was ready so it was a quick turnaround from knowing nothing to everything! I had never driven before!”

Ask on WhatsAppCan I drive a manual car with an automatic licence?
No. If you pass in an automatic, your licence covers automatic cars only. To drive a manual you would need to pass a test in a manual car. If you pass in a manual, you can drive both.
Is the driving test different in an automatic?
No. It is the same test, with the same manoeuvres, independent driving and test centre. The only difference is the car.
Do automatic lessons cost more?
No. Manual and automatic lessons cost the same: £45 an hour pay as you go, or from £40 an hour with a block. Pick-up and drop-off are included.
