Manual driving lessons in Norwich
Learn the full skill set. Pass in a manual and your licence covers manual and automatic cars, so you can drive whatever you buy, borrow or hire.
Why learn in a manual?
A manual pass gives you the most choice. Your licence covers manual and automatic cars, and many of the cheaper used cars that new drivers buy are manual.
Clutch control and gears take a little longer to learn, so some people need more lessons than they would in an automatic. We teach both at the same price, so choose the one that suits the driving you will do after you pass.
Clutch control, made simple
We start somewhere quiet and break it into small steps, so it clicks quickly and stays clicked:
- Finding the biting point and moving off smoothly
- Stopping and pulling away without stalling
- Changing up and down through the gears at the right time
- Hill starts, and holding the car on a slope without rolling back
- Junctions, roundabouts, the ring road and the A47
- The test manoeuvres, and the roads around the Norwich (Peachman Way) test centre
Stalling is part of learning
Everyone stalls while they learn a manual, and it is never a problem in a dual-controlled car. We explain what happened, you try again, and before long it stops happening. If the clutch really is holding you back, you can switch to automatic at any point.

What our learners say
Our instructors have decades of teaching experience between them. Here’s what some of our recent reviews say.
“Passed my test today in Norwich. Shout out to my amazing instructor Adnan. Thank you for being so kind and patient whilst also pushing me. Clear instructions and feedback and very good at breaking down things which I found challenging whilst at the same time pointing out my successes. Thanks once again!”
“I would highly recommend Adnan as he was extremely calm, patient, and made me feel very comfortable driving. This built my confidence massively and ensured I felt prepared going into my driving test.”
“I was a little nervous about driving… until I met my instructor, Adnan. Adnan made driving feel like something to enjoy, and taught me impeccably well. His teaching was clear, concise and made learning an enjoyable experience for me, and above all Adnan was an extremely kind person who I am grateful to have been taught by.”
“Absolutely incredible from start to finish! I learnt in Norwich with Adnan and he was incredible! So so helpful and taught me everything I needed to know to get a first time pass! I had my week intensive then 2 lessons before I was ready so it was a quick turnaround from knowing nothing to everything! I had never driven before!”

Ask on WhatsAppIs a manual harder to learn than an automatic?
It takes a little longer, because you also learn clutch control and gears. Most learners find it clicks after a few lessons somewhere quiet, and in return your licence covers both manual and automatic cars.
Can I switch from manual to automatic lessons?
Yes, at any point, and the price stays the same. Just bear in mind that an automatic pass only lets you drive automatic cars.
Do manual lessons cost more than automatic?
No. Manual and automatic lessons cost the same: £45 an hour pay as you go, or from £40 an hour with a block. Pick-up and drop-off are included.
